You will be asked to fill out a health history form and then you and your therapist will review the information and discuss your primary area(s) of concern. You and the therapist will come up with a treatment plan for that day and discuss how to proceed in future sessions.
All information, written or discussed is confidential and your written consent is required before any information will be released.
Depending on the primary technique being used, you may or may not need to undress. The level of undress is always to your level of comfort. For a full body Swedish massage, most people undress completely or to their underpants. You can discuss your concerns with your therapist. You will be given privacy to undress. At all times during the massage you will be covered except for the part of the body the therapist is working on.
You will be asked to relax on a padded table designed for comfort and stability. The room will be quiet and warm, often with soft music to set a relaxing mood.

For many techniques your massage therapist will use a lubricant, such as a light oil or lotion which is good for your skin and absorbs well.
G Generally a massage session begins with relatively gentle pressure to calm your nervous system and begin releasing superficial tension. Gradually your therapist will increase the pressure to address specific areas.
Many people just close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. The massage session is your time and please do what feels natural for you to achieve a relaxed state. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time. Massage can be for everybody, however, before taking up a course of Massage Therapy it may be important to get a recommendation from your primary health care practitioner.
Massage Therapy does not include diagnosis or any service or procedure for which a license to practise medicine, chiropractic or physiotherapy is required by law, nor does it apply as a method of treatment requiring medical supervision.
